First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Sutherland.
Account Payable Senior
My first interview was via Webex, they made sure I knew how to use the app. It was a basic screening where the recruiter asked questions like a self-intro, why I wanted to join them, and how I began my accounts payable career. They also made me do a Korean typing speed test, aiming for 45 wpm, which was tough since I struggle with that speed in English. There was also a random essay writing part that seemed unrelated to the job. The second interview was with a native Korean, a team lead from Customer Service, for a Korean oral test. They asked about my strengths, weaknesses, why I wanted to join, and how I relieve stress. I also had to do another short typing test. Although my Korean speaking is weak, I could understand the questions and answer them. It felt like they prioritized Korean speaking and typing skills over relevant professional experience. I was rejected via email with a harsh message like 'this person is failing the interview.' I was very disappointed to be judged by the customer service team for my weak Korean speaking abilities, especially since reading wasn't even tested. This is a big red flag, and it's concerning that no one from the relevant department was involved in hiring. It seems they won't hire a suitable candidate for this role.

Software Engineer
The interview process at Sutherland is generally well-structured but can feel challenging depending on how clearly you explain your answers. Interviewers tend to focus on how well you understand your work and how effectively you communicate your experience. If you are able to explain your projects, responsibilities, and technical concepts clearly and in detail, the process becomes much easier. However, if explanations are unclear or lack depth, the interview may feel difficult. Overall, the experience is fair and positive, and it mainly evaluates your practical knowledge and communication skills.
- Can you tell me about your specialization and what you know about it?
Customer Support Associate
The first round was a self-introduction and one common question, but for me they asked about my school and college life experience. Since it was my first company interview, I didn't speak well. If you're good at speaking for 5 minutes, I think it's enough. The second round is an assessment. My friend attended it, and I got rejected in the first round. We had to write a paragraph, and they checked the content and grammar. You need to get 50% in both to be selected. Lastly, there's an HR round.
- Can you share your experiences from school and college?
Associate
It was a straightforward virtual interview for an Associate position. They asked some basic questions about grammar and my past internship experience, as I'm a fresher. The interviewer was nice. It's a good idea to ask for more details about the daily responsibilities because the job description might not be completely accurate.
