First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Raymond James Financial.
Investment Banking Analyst
The interview process was pretty standard. I applied online, then had an initial HR screening call. After that, there were two virtual interview rounds, each with an associate and a VP. The final stage was an in-person "super day" which involved 6 consecutive 30-minute interviews with various team members, from analysts up to the Managing Director. Then background check and hopefully an offer.
- Could you walk us through your background?
- What draws you to this particular team?
- Can you describe your professional strengths? Are you more inclined towards quantitative or qualitative work?
Equity Research Analyst
The interview process included questions about why I'm interested in equity research, a self-introduction, a stock pitch, how I've prepared for the role, what market trends I've been following, and details about my summer internships, including specific tasks I performed.
- Can you explain your interest in Equity Research and how you've gotten ready for this kind of job?
- Tell me about yourself.
- Give me a stock pitch.
Principal Engineer
The interview process took about 3 months. I had Zoom calls with the Recruiter, Hiring Managers, the team, and the Director. Lots of emails were exchanged. The team members were very nice and everything seemed to go well. My main issue is with the recruiting side of things, not the team. It's disappointing to put in so much time and effort and only get a response like 'no feedback given, we won't be moving forward.' It felt like a waste of time.
- Can you describe your technical background and how you'd approach a situation like XYZ?
- Tell me about your tech experience and how you would handle XYZ situation.
Intern
For the first round, the interview will mainly focus on basic finance questions, like accounting, valuation methods (DCF, comparables), and income statement analysis. The recruiter wants to check your technical understanding, analytical skills, and how well you can explain your thoughts. They might also ask about motivation and cultural fit to see if you're interested in the job and if you'd be a good match for the team. Usually, an analyst or associate conducts this round.
- Could you explain the three financial statements?
- Could you walk me through the three statements?
