To be hired as a 1099 employee at a Raymond James financial branch, you just need to find a Branch Manager locally who's looking to hire. Keep in mind that if you generate less than $250,000 in production, they might not want the hassle of small producers. However, they'll still take you on and charge you for rent and salaries, hoping to acquire your client book when you eventually leave.

Behavioral Case Presentation

I applied online. A recruiter did a screening call. Then I had to do an online assessment, which was a personality test asking similar questions in different ways. It also had mini case studies on how I'd handle situations. After that, I had an onsite interview with the branch manager, followed by a final interview with the complex manager. The phone screen was challenging but doable. The onsite interviews focused on business building, managing assets, and cultural fit. I made a business plan beforehand, which the recruiter suggested, and it really helped the conversations and impressed them.

Behavioral Technical

I had three interviews for the Financial Advisor Trainee role. First, a quick phone call which was pretty easy. Then, a "one sided interview" where I had to record myself answering questions. The last one was a "virtual job tryout" with a quick math test and some situational tests. The whole process felt really impersonal because I only talked to one person from Raymond James. It actually made me lose interest in the job.
