Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Raymond James Financial.
Intern
We started with a phone chat with an external recruiter about motivation and fit, then a technical video call with the recruiter. After that, there was a networking session to meet the team, followed by an Assessment Centre. Offers came after that. Everyone was really friendly and down to earth during the whole process. I'd recommend it.
- Can you explain how altering accounts payable affects a DCF valuation?
- Could you do some mental math questions?
- Describe a recent deal you've been keeping an eye on.
IT Intern
The campus recruiter was really nice, but the interviewers were very aggressive and disrespectful. One interviewer repeatedly interrupted me while I was speaking. When I asked a question at the end, he remarked to the other interviewer, "I don't know if she's able to understand what I said." It was surprising that managers from such a large fintech company lacked basic respect.
- Were you asked basic behavioral questions?
Intern
For the first round, the interview will mainly focus on basic finance questions, like accounting, valuation methods (DCF, comparables), and income statement analysis. The recruiter wants to check your technical understanding, analytical skills, and how well you can explain your thoughts. They might also ask about motivation and cultural fit to see if you're interested in the job and if you'd be a good match for the team. Usually, an analyst or associate conducts this round.
- Could you explain the three financial statements?
- Could you walk me through the three statements?
