First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Raymond James Financial.
Associate
I got a call from a junior associate for a quick 10 minute chat. She was super nice and welcoming. After that, I had an in-person interview with one of the partners. Everyone I met, both on the phone and in person, was just lovely and inviting.
- What makes you want to work at a small family office over a bigger company?
Senior Associate
So I had this interview with Raymond James, and it was pretty insightful. Mostly behavioral questions, which made me think about my past experiences and how they fit with what the company values. They asked things like how I dealt with tough clients, my method for looking at data, and times I really put in extra effort for a customer. Using the STAR method for my answers really helped me give clear examples. A big plus was getting to reflect on myself, figuring out strengths and areas to improve, so I know how to grow. Plus, I got to ask them stuff about the job and the company, so it felt like we were both checking if it was a good fit.
- What makes you passionate about your work and the finance industry?
Associate
I first applied for the Cost Basis Associate role. About a week later, a recruiter contacted me to schedule a phone interview, which lasted about 30 minutes. The recruiter explained the job's core responsibilities and asked me some questions. A few days after that, the same recruiter called back to invite me for an onsite interview with two supervisors. The interview seemed to go well. I haven't received any feedback, and my application status for this role on the company's job page is still pending. About two weeks later, I got an email for an onsite interview for a Transfer Associate position. I scheduled it for a week later, attended the interview, and again, it seemed to go well. No feedback has been given, and my status on their website remains pending. Two weeks after that, another recruiter called me for an over-the-phone interview for the Tax Associate position. Following that phone interview, I had a face-to-face interview with two hiring managers, one in person and one via video. I felt this interview also went well; everyone was very pleasant. This interview was on a Wednesday. The following Monday, the recruiter called me early in the morning for a follow-up regarding the Tax Associate position. I was hopeful for an offer, but unfortunately, they informed me they had chosen another candidate who had tax experience. They asked if I had any questions, and I asked why I didn't get the position if experience wasn't a requirement. The recruiter explained that while my interview went well, they opted for the other candidate due to her tax field experience. I was quite upset because I had taken several days off from my current job to attend three interviews with the company, and none resulted in an offer, with my statuses for two roles still pending. I feel like the company wasted my time, and their interview process could be improved. It's discouraging when individuals don't get desired positions due to a lack of experience, and it makes it hard to gain new skills without opportunities. I believe I would have been a great asset to the team. Best of luck to future candidates at Raymond James.
