Account Executive
The interview process for this role seems to involve identifying areas for improvement and confirming high performer status. I was also asked about my tool preferences. While the product itself seems solid, I noticed some potential issues. The ramp-up period has guaranteed pay for the first month, then a 33% target in the second month and 66% in the third, which is concerning since the sales cycle is longer than three months. The commission structure's accelerators don't activate until the quota is met across all 'buckets.' Lastly, selling the hardware is expected to be tough due to Deel IT's significantly higher price compared to typical market vendors, making it even trickier for large enterprise deals.
- In what areas do you see room for growth?
- Can you confirm that you are a high performer?
- If you had to pick, which two tools would you use in this position?
Marketing
I had a good first chat with the recruiter for a marketing position at Deel. Things started well, and I was excited to keep going. I was supposed to have an interview with the hiring manager, but it got postponed the Sunday before because of stuff happening in Israel, which I totally got at the time. But then, after that, nobody contacted me for over two weeks. Finally, I got a standard rejection email saying they were moving on with other people. It was a bummer not to get any updates or info, especially since I was told I was moving to the next step. It's fine if things change, but good communication and updates are key. So, it started great, but the whole experience ended poorly because of the lack of communication and follow-up.
- Can you discuss your experience as it pertains to the responsibilities of this position?
- Could you provide an overview of your professional background as detailed on your resume?
Customer Success Manager
The whole process was super smooth and fast, only taking about 2.5 weeks. I was really impressed with how quick it was and how the team kept me in the loop about what was coming next and what to expect. First up was a recruiter phone screen to go over my general background and salary needs. Then, I chatted with the Hiring Manager about my CS experience, focusing on how I handle lots of escalations and how I manage customer priorities. It felt more like a chat than a formal interview, which was nice. Next, I had a case study/role-play where I got a prompt a few days beforehand with some issues a fake customer had. The goal wasn't to solve them perfectly but to show how I approach and think through problems. After that, I interviewed with the Head of CS at Deel, which was similar to the hiring manager interview – we talked about my experience and CS strategy, and again, it was a pretty relaxed conversation. The final stage was the Deel Elevate Interview, all about making sure I vibe with Deel's values. They asked about specific examples of how I've shown these values (which are on their website) in my previous roles.
- Can you share an instance where you showed you cared about your customers and did extra for them?
- Describe a situation where you had to change direction rapidly.
- Tell me about staying positive when facing a tough situation.
Sales Development Representative
I feel like this company should be looked into for potentially bad hiring ways. They have this hiring event that they say guarantees you an interview. This makes people sign up for their online event, but it's really just an attempt to break a world record for hiring events. They don't say how many people they're actually hiring, but they want thousands of people to show up and apply. It seems like they wanted to break the world record and also train their AI for free. During the event, they dodged specific questions about the company, mostly answering generic ones like 'do you hire in this/that country?'. The speakers just talked about how awesome they think Deel is. The 'guaranteed' interview was with an AI, where you answered simple questions to a bot about how to handle leads and close deals. As expected, almost nobody got past that stage. Deel was not upfront about how many jobs they needed to fill or where. And the event size did not match the number of hires they were actually looking for (if they were hiring at all).
- What are your thoughts on how to proceed with potential leads?
- Can you explain your process for closing deals?
