Account Executive
The interview process for this role seems to involve identifying areas for improvement and confirming high performer status. I was also asked about my tool preferences. While the product itself seems solid, I noticed some potential issues. The ramp-up period has guaranteed pay for the first month, then a 33% target in the second month and 66% in the third, which is concerning since the sales cycle is longer than three months. The commission structure's accelerators don't activate until the quota is met across all 'buckets.' Lastly, selling the hardware is expected to be tough due to Deel IT's significantly higher price compared to typical market vendors, making it even trickier for large enterprise deals.
- In what areas do you see room for growth?
- Can you confirm that you are a high performer?
- If you had to pick, which two tools would you use in this position?
Account Executive
I was invited to a hiring webinar by Deel, and they said everyone who attended would get an interview. But after the event, they emailed saying it would be an AI interview. I felt this was really misleading because they didn't mention it wouldn't be a real person interviewing us in the invitation. It felt deceptive and made me lose interest in Deel. If they handle hiring like this, I wonder how they treat their employees and customers.
- Would you like a guaranteed interview?
Account Executive
I got through the first couple of steps, an HR chat and then a talk with the hiring manager. The HR person, Camila, was super nice and made it easy. She told me about the interview process and what they look for in a candidate. She stressed that reaching out to new people is a big part of the job and that the team is full of outgoing folks. The hiring manager, Will, was great too. I liked how he made it a conversation and asked questions that really helped me see if Deel was a good fit. He was clear about what the job entails and the challenges, but also let me share my thoughts. He mentioned there's a lot to learn since Deel has many products for mid-market clients, and that sales cycles can vary in length. Both people I met were genuine and upfront. I was really interested in Deel after those talks, but I got and accepted another offer before moving forward.
- Why are you interested in Deel?
- Could you describe your career history?
- Can you provide details about your past experience, such as the size of deals you handled, how long your sales cycles were, and your performance against quotas?
