Customer Success Manager
The whole process was super smooth and fast, only taking about 2.5 weeks. I was really impressed with how quick it was and how the team kept me in the loop about what was coming next and what to expect. First up was a recruiter phone screen to go over my general background and salary needs. Then, I chatted with the Hiring Manager about my CS experience, focusing on how I handle lots of escalations and how I manage customer priorities. It felt more like a chat than a formal interview, which was nice. Next, I had a case study/role-play where I got a prompt a few days beforehand with some issues a fake customer had. The goal wasn't to solve them perfectly but to show how I approach and think through problems. After that, I interviewed with the Head of CS at Deel, which was similar to the hiring manager interview – we talked about my experience and CS strategy, and again, it was a pretty relaxed conversation. The final stage was the Deel Elevate Interview, all about making sure I vibe with Deel's values. They asked about specific examples of how I've shown these values (which are on their website) in my previous roles.
- Can you share an instance where you showed you cared about your customers and did extra for them?
- Describe a situation where you had to change direction rapidly.
- Tell me about staying positive when facing a tough situation.
Customer Success Manager
Typical CSM interview, they made it very clear it's a company where you'll work extra hours, expecting more than 9-to-5. I reached the case study, put a lot of effort into it, but they didn't provide much feedback, just the usual automatic email saying I didn't pass to the next stage.
- What are your reasons for wanting to work at Deel?
- Why are you interested in a Customer Success Manager role?
- Can you share an example of a problem you solved, including the metrics you used?
Customer Success Manager
The interview process started well with the recruiter and hiring manager, with good communication and pace. After those initial interviews, I was asked to prepare a presentation that simulated handling an email or call scenario with the Director of Customer Success. The point was to show how I'd manage different situations and work with other teams. A concerning point was when the Director mentioned that multiple employees recently left after just a few months due to the high workload and long hours. It also seems the PEO side of Deel is still being developed, and while the team is growing, there isn't much structure yet. The interview itself was okay, but I wish I'd gotten more specific feedback afterwards.
- Can you share an instance where you dealt with a bug that negatively impacted a client?
- Provide an example of handling a bug-related client issue.
