I had a really good chat with the Director and they thought I was a great fit for the role, saying they wanted to move me forward. They even suggested connecting on LinkedIn to discuss more. But then, a week after, I got an automated rejection from the recruiter. I had to reach out for feedback, which I never got, and two weeks later, the recruiter posted on LinkedIn that they had left the company. I tried to message the hiring manager to figure out what happened, but they didn't reply. It really makes you question the company's approach to candidates. I get not moving forward, especially when they said I was a perfect fit, but at least have the courtesy to explain why and offer some helpful feedback.

Applied in early March, the interview process was lengthy and a bit disorganized. Had an HR screening in mid-May, followed by a coding interview the same week. This coding interview was unexpectedly an OOP pairing session, not just problem-solving as advertised, which was a bit confusing. Then, there was a long silence until mid-July, when I was told the remaining three interviews (backend, values, and hiring manager) would be scheduled. However, only two interviews actually happened, and my follow-up about the missing hiring manager interview was ignored. The backend interview also lacked clear format guidance. After that, another two-month wait, and then in early September, I was informed the position was no longer available. Communication was slow, expectations weren't clear, and some interview stages seemed to be skipped.

Confirmed questions3 questions
  • Your task is to implement 5 functions, each with its own unit tests, to find the cheapest available worker who possesses a required skill, given a set of workers each having one or more skills. The Worker class and Skill enumeration are already defined.
  • For the backend interview, you'll need to design a database schema for a task management service and then define its API endpoints.
  • You'll also be asked about system design concepts, like scalability, reliability, or architecture trade-offs.

Behavioral Presentation

It was a pretty standard interview process. Started with a recruiter screening, then a hiring manager chat, followed by a panel interview, and a demo. The first two steps were pretty easy if you had good stories and relevant experience. The hiring manager was really nice and made me excited about the role. Then came the Panel, and it felt like they were trying to trip me up. It was very scripted, especially the part about values, and the interviewer didn't seem to align with Procore's values at all. They weren't fully engaged from the start, wouldn't give feedback, and asked questions that didn't seem relevant to the preparation. I didn't get an offer, and they gave minimal feedback, but the job posting reappeared a week later. Considering the effort involved, the whole experience left a bad taste. Don't expect an offer on your first try; it usually takes a few attempts.

The interview process was what I expected. First, a quick 30-minute call with HR/Recruitment to see if I was a good fit for more interviews. The second interview was with the sales manager, focusing more on personality, company culture, daily tasks, and career goals. The third interview was with three team members in the office. Unfortunately, this interview kept getting rescheduled, and then the job changed from remote to in-office, which I couldn't do because I couldn't relocate.
