First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Michaels.
Team Member
The interview happened out on the sales floor, with the manager at a little folding table. The questions were pretty standard for a job interview: strengths, weaknesses, and your applicable knowledge and experience. The interviewer was nice and friendly but still professional. At the end of the interview, I got a job offer and some stuff about my new position.
- What relevant skills do you have for this job, covering both retail experience and craft knowledge?
Sales Associate
I had to do a lot of paperwork, filling out a form that asked pretty invasive questions about family using SNAP and benefits. There was also a mandatory assessment that kept asking the same questions repeatedly. After that, there was silence for weeks, and then I was told they weren't recruiting for the role anymore.
- How do you handle stress at work?
Cashier
it was simple and easy, i got hired on the spot. they asked about my availability, what pay i wanted, and not much else. i'm writing this review mainly so i can get access to another review page. i worked at michaels a while back and now everything is digital. as a cashier you're basically making sure people aren't stealing and helping them if they have any checkout issues.
- Can you tell me about your availability?
- And what are your desired pay expectations?
- Are you able to work as part of a team?
Student Worker
The interview process started with a phone call that went really well. Then, I had an in-person interview which also went well, and I received an offer at the end. We communicated via emails, and I waited about 3 weeks for the offer. There were 5 people involved in the process, and overall it was good.
