First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Michaels.
Software Developer
It was a tough technical interview on an unfamiliar website. There wasn't much direction given and it didn't seem like it related to the job I applied for. The recruiter didn't really explain what the technical test would cover.
- A challenging JavaScript coding assessment was given.
- Another difficult coding challenge focused on logic.
Software Engineer
The interview process was pretty standard. It started with an online coding challenge which had three coding questions, plus some questions about production concepts and flow. Then there was a face-to-face interview, though I wish there had been more interaction during the technical part. Be aware that the HR team can be unprofessional and seem to take advantage of job seekers' situations. They gave a short deadline (two days) to accept the offer and wouldn't extend it. The offer itself was also lower than initially discussed.
- OA: three coding challenges using Python, not difficult.
- Interview: 1-2 coding exercises. Problems are at hard level, but it seems that you don't have to be bug free.
Software Developer
The interview was about an hour long and felt pretty professional, with a mix of questions that were a bit tricky in parts, especially the technical ones. Overall, the difficulty was medium.
- Can you explain the inner workings of Redis and discuss methods for enhancing its performance?
