This was a total waste of time. I had to wait two weeks for the interview. The interviewer didn't even come to greet me and just sat me down like a child. She immediately had an attitude and said she knew all about my past store manager experience because we worked for the same company before, and she didn't want to hear about that but wanted to focus on other parts of my resume. I was totally caught off guard but still gave it my best. She kept checking her watch while I was talking and didn't even ask why I wanted the job. She finished the interview by asking some bankruptcy-related questions, and then told me they'd be in touch. I sent a thank you note and was told I'd hear back within a week, but I never did. It's wild that someone with all that upper-level management experience can't even focus on an applicant. I guess bankruptcy is in my future if she's asking how I dealt with it before.

District HR called me to set up the phone interview. She was very polite and friendly. She asked about the current volume the store I worked for did, what my greatest strengths and weaknesses were, why I was interested in leaving the company, what I was looking for in a new company, what I knew about them, and if I had shopped there before. Then she asked me what questions I had. When we talked money, it was obvious that I made far too much in salary to be considered.

It was a really great experience. The recruiter was super friendly and seemed genuinely into her job and the company. She asked about my current store's size and volume, our typical customer, our sales projections for 2009 and where we actually ended up that year. She also asked about our highest staffing numbers and what we do for staff growth and development. I was asked what my team would think of me as a boss. It felt like a pretty standard phone screening. I'm supposed to talk to the district manager next.
