The interview process involves sourcing, screening, scheduling, interviewing, assessing, and hiring. Structured steps typically include application, recruiter phone screen, hiring manager interview, technical/behavioral assessments, team meetings, final interview, background checks, and offer. This process involves all the steps involved with planning and reviewing meetings to determine if someone is the best candidate. It usually includes multiple stages, starting with the initial screening, followed by one or more rounds of interviews, and ending with a final.
- What motivated you to apply to our company?
Big Data Engineer
I went through 3 rounds of interviews. The first was with the team lead and other team members, focusing on technical aspects like SQL and LeetCode medium problems. The second was with the skip level manager, which was supposed to be non-technical, but it was a bad experience because they weren't paying attention and were on their phone. The last interview was with HR for standard behavioral and administrative questions.
- Can you share your experience in building a data pipeline?
Software Engineer
The technical interviewers were professional and friendly. However, the final HR interview was the worst HR experience I've ever had, showing a major culture mismatch. It was almost rude and felt very one-sided, not giving me a chance to learn about the company. For instance, she was really surprised that I asked about what she liked and felt could be improved at the company, calling it a "strange" question and stating that since she was interviewing me, she couldn't give any judgments about the company to the candidate. She also refused to share their salary range, repeatedly stressing that as the candidate, I shouldn't ask that and should just tell her my current or expected salary. She even directly asked for the minimum I would accept. I'm not sure if this is typical at the company, but candidates should be treated with more respect.
- Why did you choose to join your current employer over a larger, more recognized organization?
- What is the least amount of compensation you are prepared to accept?
Embedded C Developer
It started with a group interview with some lead engineers. They wanted to know about my past projects. I wasn't prepared to show them my projects, which was a bummer. I think this company is cool with people who are eager to learn and don't have a ton of experience. They're looking for experts, but if you show you're ready to put in the work, you'll be good. They even mentioned some database work and said they'd pass my resume along to that team.
- Can you share your work experience with C and provide an example?
