First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Huawei Technologies.
Manager
It was a long and tedious process that lasted over a month. I had to do a case study for the company and also speak with five different leaders. There were more than seven interviews, all in English. They kept asking the same thing three or four times, in different ways, to see if you would contradict yourself. The process with the global recruiter and the local HR was quite disorganized. The position was advertised as a management level, but when it came to offering the position, they said it was for a specialist. The benefits and salary were very incompatible with market practice, while it's noticeable that expatriates receive better offers. The model is 100% in-person, and they only give a 30-minute tolerance for being late (meaning, little flexibility).
- Why do you want to work here?
- What would be your priorities for the area in the first 30 days?
- Tell me about a project you are proud of.
Management Trainee
I applied through a recruiter, I think it was PRTR. There were 3 interview rounds. First was online with the Thai team lead for the role I applied for. Second was online with a Chinese supervisor. The third round had to be onsite, which they were really serious about. I actually declined to continue to the second round because of the onsite requirement at the final stage, since I was studying abroad at the time.
- Can you explain what the concept of Go-To-Market (GTM) is?
- What would you do if you have 3 tasks that all need to be completed by the end of the day, and they all need the results at the same time? What if?
- How good is your Chinese communication?
Manager
There were a few stages, but overall it was manageable to answer the questions if you found good answers on their company website beforehand. If you prepared and read everything on their official website, it will be easy for you to slay the interview.
- Could you explain the Huawei pillar?
