First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at HP Inc..
Intern
So, at HP, they start by looking at your resume. A recruiter or hiring manager will check if your background fits the job. This part might include a quick chat about basic tech stuff, your projects, and if you get the role. The questions are pretty simple, aiming to see if you know the basics, how you solve problems, and how well you talk. It's a straightforward process to see if you're a good fit for the team.
- Can you tell me about your project and the biggest challenge you encountered?
Software Engineer Intern
I had a one hour meeting with the team for the role I'm interviewing for. It was a mix of behavioral and technical questions, including an easy and a medium LeetCode problem. The interviewers were really nice and made it a relaxed experience. Even though I struggled with the medium LeetCode question, they were supportive and helped me through it. This was my only interview round, and they mentioned I should expect to hear back in a couple of months.
- Tell me about fundamental concepts in Java.
Web Analytics Manager
The interview process was overall unpleasant. HR was replying to my emails basically at midnight. During one of the interviews I was asked to repeat what I said because they needed to "write a report about the interview". After the second interview it was crystal clear that company culture is toxic and it is better to stay away from it. After the last interview HR ghosted me for a few months just to write one day a line saying that they would like to interview me again. Avoid this company at all costs, don't even waste your time on interviews.
- Can you share an example of a successful accomplishment?
Technical Program Manager
The interview process went smoothly. The TA team made sure all rounds were scheduled on time and communicated well. I was interviewed for a TPM role focused on Agile Transformation. All interview rounds concentrated on the responsibilities of a TPM and my prior experience managing agile transformations.
- In your experience, how do you manage inter-team dependencies?
- What's your approach to dealing with conflicting priorities?
- Could you share what you find most rewarding about being a Technical Program Manager?
