Technical Support Engineer
In the Technical Interview round, as soon as I entered the room, the tech HR asked me "Are you feeling nervous"? I replied honestly "Yes a little bit." Then they asked "Tell me about yourself..?" He asked a few questions related to my Summer vacation trainings. After that, he asked some questions from my technical background like in Core Java, Oracle, some unix commands, some from C++, and SQL queries. The first question from Java was why Java is platform independent and something about JVM and AWT package and swings (all these were very easy questions). In Oracle, he drew a table and told me to select a particular record from that table using some constraints and also asked the difference between Statement, PreparedStatement, CallableStatement and some more general questions. The Unix part was very easy, in this, he asked some basic commands of Unix and their description i.e. related to files, directory and electronic self like ls, cat, cp, chmod, mkdir, rmdir, passwd, kill, who etc. In C++ he asked some questions from header files and graphics programming. Then he raised some more general questions like "Why you want to join HP?" and "If some other company will be providing you more CTC, will you leave HP?" Finally, around 15 students were able to clear this round. The HR Interview round: It was a very easy round. Here they are concentrating on your communication skill and your confidence. They asked "Tell me something about yourself?" "Will you relocate?" "Some questions on strengths & weakness." Finally out of 15 candidates only 5 were selected. Luckily I was one of them.
- Could you give me a brief overview of yourself?
- What are your strengths and weaknesses?
- What makes you the ideal candidate for this role?
Technical Support Engineer
The interview process was really professional and calm. The person interviewing me was really open to talking things through. There were a total of 5 rounds. It started with introductions, then they asked about why I'd be a good fit for the role, followed by a soft skills check, a round for verbal and accent, and finally an ops and HR round.
- If you have many tasks, how do you manage them all at once?
Technical Support Engineer
The process had 3 rounds: 1) group discussion, 2) technical round, and 3) HR round. In the GD round, there were 42 candidates and all were asked to talk about a topic for 2 min. Most candidates were there through consultancy or recommendations. Only my friends and I, plus a few others, attended without referrals. The hiring manager seemed to have already decided who to select. When I was asked to speak, she wasn't ready to listen and cut me off after 30 seconds, saying 'that's alright.' This happened to many who spoke well but weren't referred. For referred candidates, she listened to their irrelevant stories for 2 minutes. For example, she asked a girl, 'Why do you think that you are a fit for this role?' The girl replied, 'Because Praveen, who recommended me for this job, told me to join this company and inspired me about the role.' Surprisingly, this girl was selected, which was disappointing.
- In the group discussion round, you were asked to speak about a topic for 2 minutes.
