They call you but it seems they are junior people who don't have clarity on the position and don't know the requirements for the job they are offering, which is very frustrating.

It was a standard process, pretty much like other companies. There were 3 rounds total. First was an intro round where we talked about the job profile and checked my fit. Then, a technical round with questions specific to the role. Finally, a round with the Director or Manager, which was more general.

So, my interview with HP was pretty much all about Ind AS 116 – Leases. We talked about both the concepts and how to actually do the accounting for it. They asked me about lease types (like finance, operating, or the right-of-use model under Ind AS 116) and key terms such as lease liability, ROU asset, lease term, discount rate, and variable lease payments. We also went over initial recognition and subsequent measurement of the lease liability and ROU asset, and the journal entries for different situations (commencement, depreciation, interest, payments). They also threw in some questions about handling issues, like if lease schedules don't match up, discount rates are wrong, or lease terms change, and how to spot and fix those. Basically, they wanted to see if I understood the concepts clearly, could think logically about accounting entries, and could deal with real lease accounting problems.
