So I applied and they screened my resume. Then a recruiter called me to talk about my background, if I was a good fit for the role, and just the basic stuff. After that, I had some technical interviews where they asked me role-specific questions like coding, data, and engineering problems, and even a case study. Then there was a behavioral interview where I had to use the STAR method to answer questions about teamwork and problem-solving, and also about Ford values. The last interview was with the hiring manager, we talked more in-depth and about culture fit. Finally, I got an offer and they did a background check.

Coding Technical

So, the whole thing had two steps. First, there was this online assessment with a bunch of MCQs and two coding questions. You had to code in either Python, Java, JS, or Go. The MCQs were mostly about problems you hit in production or when scaling software. Then, Step 2 was the interview itself. It was all about AI/ML stuff – like supervised and unsupervised learning and all that jazz. We talked about bagging and boosting, how they're different, and what ensemble models are. Towards the end, they had me share my screen and code a sigmoid function in Python. They even let me look up the math formula online to implement it, which I managed to do.

Interviewed for the Corporate Occupational Health Nurse role. It was a really weird interview experience. The Medical Director/hiring manager was acting strange and seemed distracted. They had trouble connecting on Teams. The other interviewers were fine, but the hiring manager was just odd. By the end, when the hiring manager finally got connected, they made sure to say they had lots of other applicants, many internal, and that I might hear back in 3 to 4 weeks, or maybe not. Then they ghosted me. So strange! Luckily, I got an offer from a better company, so I dodged a bullet.

I interviewed for a Senior Director position at Ford and completed two rounds. Unfortunately, after the second interview, I never received any follow-up from the recruiter or talent team, despite reaching out twice. Even when a candidate is not selected, it’s important and ethical to close the loop with a formal rejection email rather than leaving candidates without any response. Clear communication reflects well on the company and respects the time and effort candidates invest in the process. The hiring manager I met in the second interview emphasized wanting candidates to feel good about the interview experience, which made the lack of follow-up from the recruiting side even more disappointing. I hope Ford encourages closer coordination between hiring managers and recruiters to ensure candidates are informed, even when the decision is not to move forward.
