A few hours after applying, I got an invite to play a series of 12 Pymetrics games online within 5 days. The site says resumes don't really show who the good candidates are, but Pymetrics gives a clear view of everyone's abilities. I, with 10+ years of experience, spent 25 minutes playing games where, for example, I had to hit the space bar as many times as possible in a given time. Why?? I wondered afterwards if the point of the game was to see how far I was willing to be humiliated to look for a job. The next day I got an email saying Diageo was not moving forward with my application based on my participation in these games.

Behavioral Technical

This whole thing took over 6 months. I met with managers who had no connection to the actual role, and they made it obvious during the interview. The HR people were not responsive, and I had to keep chasing them. One interview got canceled even after I had already arrived at their office. Around the three-month mark, I was upfront with HR about my salary expectations, and she confirmed she could meet them. However, they ended up giving me two low-ball offers, which I declined.

Technical Coding Behavioral

Applied through referral, heard back after 30 days from the recruiter. Had to take an online test on HireVue with 10 multiple-choice questions on ML and 2 easy coding questions, with a 10-minute time limit. The first interview was with a senior and lead data scientist. The senior data scientist started by asking about my projects, then asked about statistics and basic Python. It was strange because there were no follow-up questions, they just said 'ok' to my answers. It felt like a formality, just to say they conducted an interview. Even though the recruiter called at least once, all other communication was via email. It's hard to know what they're actually looking for.

Behavioral Technical Other

The process began with an online application, followed by gamified assessments through Pymetrics that tested traits like memory, emotional intelligence, and decision-making. I progressed to the video interview stage via HireVue, where I responded to behavioral questions under timed conditions. Though I didn’t advance further, the experience was smooth, professional, and gave me insight into Diageo’s values and leadership expectations. It affirmed the importance of authenticity and preparation in graduate-level recruitment.
