Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Diageo.
Senior Manager
It was a tough process but I liked meeting people. It took longer than I thought, but I was really keen. They seem really focused on hiring the right folks for their teams.
- Can you share details about your previous experience?
- How does your background match what we're looking for?
- Tell me more about your experience relevant to this specific role.
Manager
The interview process had about three rounds. The first was with HR to discuss the job description and see if my role matched. The second and third rounds were video calls and face-to-face interviews with international panels and their Indian colleagues. For the face-to-face interview, I had to travel to Bangalore, but HR had mentioned beforehand that travel expenses wouldn't be reimbursed. Even though I missed out on reimbursement, once I got the offer with a package much better than I expected, I totally forgot about it. It was a great experience visiting the Bangalore office and meeting industry experts.
- Tell me about the technical aspects of your projects.
- Can you share some behavioral experiences you've had?
- How do you handle team-related issues?
Office Manager
I applied for this role because I felt I was a good match with my background and credentials. After nearly two months, I got a call from an internal recruiter. I told them I was in the final stages with other companies and nearing offers because they took so long to get back to me. Knowing this, they moved up my in-person interview to the next business day. The face-to-face interview went okay, but I could tell I was the first person they interviewed because they didn't ask many questions, and I didn't get much of a chance to discuss my experience. They said I'd hear back early the following week. I emailed the talent manager saying I'd received another offer but was still interested in Diageo and needed feedback quickly. Even after sending three emails, I never heard anything back. It's surprising that a company this size can't even send a simple 'unsuccessful' email to a candidate. I was ready to put another offer on hold just to work for Diageo, and it's quite rude that I received absolutely no response. In my role, I do a lot of recruitment and always let candidates know the outcome, even providing specific feedback when asked – this is something Diageo should do.
- What do you anticipate being your biggest challenge if you were to join Diageo?
