First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Diageo.
Administrative Assistant
I went through the whole interview process: a phone screen, met the person I'd be supporting, had a three-person panel interview, and then an informal chat with the person I would be replacing. They kept saying how excited they were about me. After that last chat, which was just about daily tasks and no questions for me, I didn't hear anything for almost 3 weeks. I had another offer, so I asked about this job's status and was told I'd know in 24 hours. 48 hours later, I followed up again and was told they weren't interested.
- Can you give me an overview of your resume?
- Describe a situation where you had to juggle multiple tasks.
- Can you share an instance where you had to decline a request?
Executive Assistant
I applied through an agency and went through the whole process, ending up in the final interview. The process started with an admin test, and if that went well, I had a final interview with the HR manager and HR business partner. This whole thing took over a month. When it came to the final interview, they couldn't give me a definite timeline for when they'd let me know because the position was on hold until the new director arrived. So I waited another two weeks. They eventually got back to me with the feedback that I didn't get the job because I don't speak Hungarian. At that point, as a job seeker, I was just incredibly let down by how they handled the rejection. They had my CV, knew I didn't speak Hungarian, and still took me all the way to the end, only to give me a really unprofessional and careless reason. Even if there were other reasons they didn't hire me, they could have given better feedback. Based on my experience with this company, their HR department seems totally incompetent and clueless about HR fundamentals. HR is crucial for a company's success, and with bad HR, a company can't be great. It was such a waste of my time. I was really interested in the company at first, but I definitely won't be applying to Diageo in Hungary again.
- How would your best friend describe you?
Executive Assistant
It was a three level process. First you started with HR and had a discussion. Then you went in to the head office for a practical test depending on your position as well as had a further discussion with HR. The final interview was with your manager.
- What are your English language abilities?
- What motivates you to join our company?
