It was a relaxed interview process, and I had the chance to talk with really nice people who seemed genuinely interested in my personal interests and future career path. It felt much less stressful than interviews at larger firms, where they tend to ask very technical questions that most students wouldn't know. The whole experience felt very personal, and I enjoyed getting to know everyone. I will say, the entire process took about 6 to 7 calls and interviews and spanned about 2 months.

The interview process was generally smooth. I had some technical difficulties and joined the meeting late, but they were very understanding. One interviewer focused on the technical details of my resume, asking about my skill proficiency and past internship projects. The other interviewer asked more behavioral questions related to teamwork.

My interview for this role was with Stacy H., a practice leader. Her demeanor was quite off-putting; she seemed unenthusiastic and like she had just woken up. This set a negative tone, especially since I expect a certain level of engagement from leadership in consulting roles. The interview largely focused on a short employment gap from five years ago during the pandemic and questioned the source of my accounting knowledge, despite my over three years of experience in TAS at a National PA firm. I felt the interviewer should have leveraged my resume and asked technical questions instead of doubting my background.

  • Can you tell me about your three-month employment gap in 2020?
  • What was your learning process for the accounting skills necessary for TAS?
  • Can you elaborate on your 2020 employment gap of three months?

This hiring process was a complete mess. I had to constantly chase the recruitment team for updates after the initial screening and a one-way interview, which took almost two months. I interviewed with mid-level employees but never got a chance to speak with the hiring manager. After another three weeks of waiting and following up, I was informed that someone else had already been hired. It's clear this company doesn't respect applicants' time. I definitely dodged a bullet.
