First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Braze.
Recruitment Coordinator
The process started off pretty well - completed the initial recruiter call, hiring manager interview, and onsite interviews in less than 2 weeks. I knew I was earlier in the process than others and wouldn't get an answer right away, but I ended up waiting more than five weeks to finally be rejected with 0 feedback. I was told two different times that I'd likely have an update by "early next week", but when those came and went with no more follow ups, I knew I wouldn't be getting an offer. I wish the team hadn't made me wait so long, I totally get that delays happen but almost 6 weeks is pretty egregious! I also wasn't sent a candidate feedback survey despite getting to the in-person stage, which is pretty shocking and makes me think they don't take candidate feedback seriously.

Product Marketing Manager
I got an internal referral and was surprisingly contacted by a contract recruiter. After meeting the recruiter, I interviewed with the hiring manager who immediately moved me forward to the panel round. I met with a PMM, a PM and an integrated marketer. Standard behavioral questions. The recruiter told me I got 3 thumbs up and would be moved forward to the final presentation. They asked me to present on a previous project which is far better than working on a hypothetical project. I thought the presentation went well and emailed the coordinator after at the advice of the recruiter to ask for the panelists’ email addresses to send a thank you note. I received no response. 6 weeks after the final presentation I had still not heard back so I sent another email and got a reply saying that they had decided not to move forward.

People Business Partner
I applied to a position at Braze in mid August, and completed all of the steps of the interview process within 2.5 weeks. I was initially impressed with the efficiency of the process, but the communication after that went downhill. 1.5 months after submitting my application, the recruiter and team ‘still didn’t have a decision’. During this time, they also reposted the role online, and yet kept stringing me along by saying that they needed to complete other interviews to make a final decision, but that they really liked me. Waiting for a decision was a waste of time. It became clear that they were trying to find the next best thing but wanted to keep me as a backup option. In the end, I actually never heard back on the final decision - but didn’t appreciate this type of treatment and would prefer either 1 - a more thoughtfully spaced interview process and 2 - honesty. From my experience, I wouldn’t reccomend this company.

Software Engineer
I found the Senior Software Engineer role at Braze on Indeed and a recruiter reached out about setting up an initial call. The scheduling was super easy using their system. We chatted for about 20-30 mins, and the recruiter was really nice and explained everything, mentioning the technical screen was key. The technical screen went well, and setting up the virtual on-site interviews was also smooth. Even though I wasn't as prepared as I should have been, and one of the sessions showed some major weak spots, the interviewers were still great – friendly, adaptable, and encouraging. It was a good overall experience, and I liked talking to actual developers instead of just doing online tests.
