Technical Support Engineer
The interview process was fine overall. It has 4 stages: HR screening, Technical Interview, a Test, and a Director Test. I failed at the Test stage. The process was fast, with quick responses. Usually, you get an email to schedule an interview within a couple of days after applying. Then, in less than 3 days, you'll know if you're moving on to the next stages.
- Tell me about your troubleshooting experience.
- What tools have you used?
- Describe a time you encountered a specific problem and how you solved it.
Technical Support Engineer
So I started with a call from the recruiter, then I had a video call with the hiring manager which she said went well. But then after a week of no response, they said they weren't moving forward because they gave the job to someone else. A few weeks later they reached out again because the other candidate didn't work out. Not sure what the real story was, they initially told me they offered the job to someone else. Anyway, they asked if I was still interested and I said yes, but hesitantly. Then they sent me a coding challenge that I had to finish within an hour of getting the email. Honestly, that's not enough time for what they asked, especially for a role that isn't a Software Engineer. The task was to write a program to calculate min, mode, median, etc. and return the results in a specific format from a custom class. I couldn't finish the class part in the time given, so I sent back a version that did the same calculations but in a different format. I followed up later with the version in the required format. They didn't move me forward because they didn't want me to use Python's built-in functions for min, mode, and median and wanted me to write my own. It would have been helpful if that was clear in the instructions.
- What are some common interview questions you've been asked?
Technical Support Representative
I interviewed for a role and it was a total waste of time. There were 2 rounds, then a home assessment. If I passed that, there were 2 more rounds. The assessment had 5 questions about technical issues with the Braze SDK, which seemed like real client tickets. I had to answer each with 5 criteria. I answered using public info since I wasn't trained yet. I got rejected the next day with a generic email. No feedback was given on what I did wrong. It felt like they used my work for their tickets without paying me and then just dropped me. Very disrespectful.
- Can you tell me about your knowledge of Braze and any relevant experience you have?
