The 1.5 month interview process ended very badly. The first 3 interviews were normal, status quo. I was told by the hiring manager that they were hiring for 3 new roles (which appears to have been a lie). I was then asked to complete an assignment and 2 of Workato’s certification courses. The courses took around 10 hours to complete and the assignment took about 6 hours. After submitting the certifications and assignment, we scheduled a panel interview placeholder. The placeholder was never confirmed on their end, and 1hr before the meeting time, we postponed to the following week. 2 days before the rescheduled panel interview, we confirmed the meeting attendees. The next day, the recruiter reached out letting me know they already made a hiring decision and they would cancel my interview. I have no idea how a company can make an informed hiring decision without even reviewing the final assignment or allowing me to present my solution to the panel. It is completely unacceptable to have candidates take your certification courses and complete assignments when you have no intention of following through with the process.

The interview process includes a recruiter call to discuss your background and career goals, followed by a technical screen with some initial technical questions. Then, there's an assessment of your practical skills. Finally, there are two technical interviews, one involving live coding, and a culture/values interview to see if you're a good fit for the team.

Workato wants to ensure that this is the right fit for you, just as much as they want to ensure that it's the right fit for them. Before the formal interview process, I had a conversational interview with the HM so he could better understand my interest in Workato, what motivated me, my career goals, etc. The entire process was efficient, and I received feedback quickly after each round, completing the process in just over two weeks. The challenge round was difficult and requires a lot of preparation, but it was immensely helpful in learning the platform and I felt better prepared for my first day. Throughout the process, the hiring team was genuinely invested in my success, offering resources and guidance at every step. This culture of collaboration, transparency and support was a key factor in my excitement about joining Workato.

Coding Presentation Technical

So the interview process was pretty interesting. It started with a coding test round where they gave two questions. First, a coding question about finding the longest consecutive increasing sequence in an array. Second, another coding question about finding the 2nd lowest and 2nd highest elements in an array. Then there was an HR round with one question where I had to submit a 2-3 minute self-made video about my journey from childhood to college and why I'm a good fit for the role. After that, there was an assignment round with two tasks. The first was to create a data pipeline to move data from a Google Sheet to Snowflake. The second assignment involved hosting a website using docker CLI, where I had to fix some errors they intentionally put in the provided steps and webpage.
