went through a long process with 5 interviews total, including a panel interview with Directors/VP's. The process was fine until the end. Typical questions about experience and handling objections/scenarios were asked. Ultimately, no offer was extended after the final interview, which is fair. However, neither the hiring manager nor the recruiting team provided any updates or a rejection notice, even after several follow-ups. I had to figure it out myself after spending significant time researching, prepping, interviewing, sending thank you notes, and following up on timelines/next steps. Interviews are a two-way street, like any sales cycle, and their lack of communication was off-putting.

A recruiter from Workato reached out to me on LinkedIn about a Commercial Account Executive role. I hadn't heard of Workato before but was intrigued by the remote work options and competitive salary. The company culture also appealed to me, as many interviewers seemed genuine. The product appears solid and well-positioned in the SaaS market. The interview process involved several stages: an initial screening with the recruiter, an interview with the hiring manager, an interview with two sales executives, and a mock presentation. The recruiter was excellent and maintained clear communication throughout. Everyone I spoke with was very friendly and humble. I appreciated their openness.

I was initially contacted by the Country Manager for Spain via LinkedIn. Our first conversation was over the phone, surprisingly in Russian despite the job being in English and Spanish. This was followed by roughly 8 interview sessions, with about 5 of them being with different people from various departments. The sequence was Country Manager for Spain -> VP of Sales -> Founder. After several chats with the Country Manager, he seemed keen but also quite slow to move things along, with lots of delays and odd delays. After some product training and screening, I had a video call with the VP of Sales. The task was to impress them by 'selling' them their own product, building up the pitch correctly. The VP approved my video call and DEMO and then passed me on to the Founder. The chat with the Founder was really awkward; he seemed uninterested and uncomfortable talking to 'another applicant'. His questions were irrelevant and dull, making it the worst video call I've experienced. Surprisingly, after all this, the Founder wanted a more comprehensive recruitment process. So, after a lot of effort and studying, the process expanded to include 3 more people, some from departments not directly related to an Account Executive role in Spain. The idea was that all 3 needed to like me, which is tough as it increases the chances of rejection. By now, it was about 5 people in total, as I had skipped a Sales Manager early on. Only one of them, the VP of Business Development, seemed to genuinely connect with me and my role. He was direct, likable, interesting, and actually seemed engaged, unlike others who were distracted. Ultimately, I didn't get the job. The whole process dragged on for about 2 months and felt like a total waste of time. I put in immense effort, only to be turned down because two people weren't convinced. The stated reasons were a minor discrepancy in my sales experience duration (4 years vs. 3.5 years) and not maintaining eye contact for about 10% of the time (I was thinking about their irrelevant questions). They also disliked my job hopping, even though my roles were within the same company group, involving different products and even HR. Interestingly, they later hired someone who had changed jobs twice as often, and the process seemed rushed.
