First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Workato.
Content Marketing Manager
I spoke with a recruiter, then met with the marketing manager and then the CEO. I did a writing test and had another video interview. It was clear from the interviews that this job isn't for people who expect to be managed closely. Workato is a fast, lean startup in a competitive market. Leaders are hands-on and actively working. I liked the independent spirit and hands-off culture, so I felt it was a good fit.

Content Manager
The interview process was extremely disorganized and unprofessional. The interviewer was over an hour late. About 5 minutes before I showed up, I was told my laptop was needed, which I couldn't bring as I was only 5 minutes away. I was interviewed by someone in Sales for about 4 minutes who was eating. He then stopped the interview to say I needed to speak with someone else. He left taking his laptop, so I had to download Google Hangouts on my phone to call the person I was supposed to speak with. After I figured out the WiFi myself, I spoke with him. The sales guy returned and finished his lunch while grilling me with questions. My original interviewer finally arrived after that. I had another call with someone else, then a standard presentation. A few days later, I received an offer for a different role than the one I applied for – a strategist offer instead of a content manager. I felt insulted and declined. I'd avoid this company due to their unprofessional and sleazy operations.
- What do you seek in your next company?
Content Specialist
So this was for a remote gig. I ended up having three interviews total. First was with HR, then the marketing director, and then another person from the marketing team. The first two went okay, though the second one ended kinda abruptly while I was asking questions, I guess she had another meeting scheduled right after mine. Honestly, Workato's interview process didn't seem to leave much space for the candidate to ask questions. Then they wanted a fourth interview where I'd have to make a PowerPoint about my portfolio and experience. If they'd asked for that upfront, fine, but a fourth interview? Seemed like a total waste of my time. It left a bad taste in my mouth and I decided to withdraw my application.
