First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Weber Shandwick.
Account Executive
Super cool, human staff and a fast hiring process, good clients too. A communication agency without those fake case tests, they don't drag out the hiring process. I recommend it, the interviewer was very human and understood me because I was leaving another company during the hiring process.
- Tell me about your previous experience in communications and any successful cases you've handled.
Associate
It was an internal interview process and pretty quick. They always have a lot of openings, so even though no specific roles were confirmed for my promotion, there were plenty of options. Typically, things pick up around August or a couple of weeks after New Year's. The interview was standard with typical questions, focusing on creative problem-solving and managing clients.
- What are your career aspirations for the next five years?
Strategist
I was bummed I didn't get the Junior Strategist job at Weber Shandwick, but I did really appreciate the chance to interview. The talks were cool and I liked chatting about how they do integrated campaigns and the digital strategy scene. It was neat how they focused on figuring out what clients need and making it into effective, data-backed plans. The interviewers were nice and gave me a good feel for the agency's vibe and how people work together. It made me even more excited about working in strategic communications, and I'm thankful for the experience.
- What draws you to public relations, and specifically to communications strategy?
Copywriter
Applied through the website and then mailed them. The initial process was extremely smooth till the last round that was delayed due to holidays. However, post the final interview, they kept me on strings with vague responses about the timeline for nearly a month! Even after that, they gave me a bland response that wasn't a YES or NO. How can a company of such reputation even function like this, I'll never know.
- How do you approach a brief?
