Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Weber Shandwick.
Associate
It was an internal interview process and pretty quick. They always have a lot of openings, so even though no specific roles were confirmed for my promotion, there were plenty of options. Typically, things pick up around August or a couple of weeks after New Year's. The interview was standard with typical questions, focusing on creative problem-solving and managing clients.
- What are your career aspirations for the next five years?
Senior Associate
First you have a phone interview with the HR. they are very professional and sound nice so you don't feel like you're being interrogated. Then you have an interview with the team leader. Now this is where things get interesting because it really depends on who is interviewing you. In general, the team leaders are very dynamic and can be quite fun. I only had two interviews.
- Tell me about your past roles and responsibilities.
- What would you consider your biggest strengths and weaknesses?
- For a media relations position, what is your experience and your network of media contacts?
Associate Director
First, we had a detailed informal chat. Then there was a more formal interview, though it was less formal than others I've done. It was straightforward and fair, no tricks, just two senior people. All questions were competency-based.
- What strategies would you employ to boost revenue in the event of a shortfall?
