Vector Command
I applied for a UK-based Vector Command role after an internal recruiter reached out on LinkedIn. After a good initial chat, I sent my CV. The recruiter then ghosted me - no CV acknowledgement, no timeline updates, and no replies to my messages. I later found out the UK roles were removed from the careers page. No one informed candidates in the pipeline, I discovered it myself. A quick message to candidates when roles are withdrawn takes seconds. The total lack of communication was disappointing, especially from a company like Rapid7.

Technical Support Engineer
The interview process at Rapid7, while straightforward for my first time interviewing, felt quite long. It started with a one-hour chat with the section managers, followed by an extended technical interview that had a lot of questions. The interviewers were really professional and nice, trying to make things less stressful, but it was still a demanding process overall. Definitely brush up on Linux commands, SQL databases, cloud tech, networking ports, and general information security concepts.
- Can you explain how you would describe a product or service to an individual unfamiliar with it?
Senior Systems Administrator
It was pretty good for the first round, speaking with the Director of the department I'd work under. Standard process, went very well. Then I get passed to the Team Panel interview. This is where it felt unprofessional and embarrassing. The team asked me very high level questions which is to be expected and I answered the best I could and as nervous as I am, one member from the UK team was visibly laughing at me, not paying attention and typing in the background, unsure if its work related or about me but it wasnt a great feeling. I knew I might've fell short but when it came to me asking questions, I asked their experience and funny enough, they were once in my shoes. So laughing at a candidate, making the interview process harder and uncomfortable when you've been in this position seems hypocritical. I gave this interview my best effort and to be taken as a joke and laughed at while once being in my position sucks. I expected not to hear back but glad I didnt, I wouldn't have liked the team I would be working with as a few of them are unprofessional hypocrites.
- What is your approach to solving problem X?
- Describe a time you successfully resolved a complex issue.
- How do you manage dealing with multiple high-priority issues simultaneously?
Business Systems Analyst
The interview process was very smooth and I met a lot of great people! Rapid7 seems to prioritize cultural fit over an exact experience match, which I think is a smart hiring strategy. The process included a phone screening, an interview with the hiring manager, three panel interviews, and then a final round with the VP of the team. All interviews were behavioral and conversational, with some questions about specific scenarios I've encountered. Overall, it was a great experience!
- Can you describe how you handle challenging stakeholders?
