Sales Representative
Emailed my resume to Rapid7 for a sales rep opening and got an email back a few days later to schedule an interview. I waited in the lobby for a few minutes and was greeted by an employee who said someone would be by shortly. After a few minutes, a Sales Manager walked me through the office, which was pretty wild, someone was even dancing in a costume. I had a nice 1-on-1 interview where we went over my resume and they asked some basic questions, like why they should hire me and about my strengths/weaknesses. I met with a few other employees who seemed to be really trying to 'sell' the job and were very nice, personable people.
- Tell me about the last thing you purchased and then sell it to me.
- What makes you the best candidate for this position?
- Could you describe your previous sales experience?
Sales
It was a really drawn-out interview process, and by the time I reached the end, it was obvious it wasn't the right fit for me. The company culture felt quite rigid, and they were really insistent on everyone working in the office physically.
- In five years, where do you envision yourself?
Sales Representative
This whole thing took a month. It kicked off with a chat with Talent Acquisition, then I talked to the Hiring Manager. After that, I got the green light to talk to some important people. That meeting went pretty well – I got a good sense of where the company stands and some of the problems they're dealing with. Honestly, I didn't think I'd make it to the end, especially since it took TA a whole week to get back to me, but I was surprised. The last step was an in-person meeting. It was pretty chill, mostly me asking about the team, the company vibe, and how much work there is. I had to chase them again for an update, and then they told me on a call that I wasn't the best fit because others had more technical skills. That confused me a bit – I thought my background fit the job description. If tech skills were that important, they should have cut me after the Hiring Manager chat.
- What's your strategy for hitting sales targets in your assigned territory?
