First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Prudential.
Franchised Life Planner
The interview process for the Life Planner franchisee position at Prudential involves several sequential steps. First, there's an initial meeting to present the business model, explaining the Life Planner's role, the franchise structure, and how sales operations work. Then, interviews with managers take place, mainly to understand the candidate's profile, their professional experience, sales skills, and their interest in being an entrepreneur. These interviews heavily focus on sales, prospecting, and building a client base. Throughout the process, the financial aspects of the model are also discussed, including the initial investment, operating costs, and commission structure. These details are usually elaborated on as the interviews progress. After passing the interviews, candidates must complete mandatory training and obtain the required certifications to work in the insurance market. Only then can they start operating as a Life Planner. Overall, it's a structured process aimed at evaluating the candidate's sales profile and their readiness to act as a franchisee, taking on the business's risks and responsibilities.

The interview will focus mostly on behavioral questions. They’re meant to give a sense of how you’ve handled different situations in the past. They’ll ask you about specific moments in your career where you’ve had to navigate challenges, work with a team, or make decisions under pressure. These kinds of questions help interviewers understand how you approach problem-solving and whether your approach will work in the role you’re applying for.

Risk Analyst Intern
I applied and did the automated HireVue which had basic questions like why pru and why risk. Then, about a month later, I had 3 back-to-back video interviews with managers. They were all behavioral.

Risk Management Intern
I had to do a Hirevue first, and most of the questions were technical. After that, I had an interview with two VPs that was about 1 hour and 15 minutes. They really grilled me with specific questions about my resume and technical stuff from my past experiences. So, make sure you know your resume really well and are ready for tough questions because they want to see how strong your skills are and what you can offer.
- What are the current trends in the insurance market, and why is Risk Management crucial for a company?
- How do you stay informed about market changes and news related to risk management?
- Can you elaborate on your resume and the specific experiences you've listed?
