I wanted to share my thoughts on how Prudential handled their hiring process and my interview experience. I was really confused about why it took so long to hear back, like over 5 weeks. I also have some worries about things that might have been discriminatory during the interview. The interviewer was on Teams wearing a 'doo rag,' which I thought was a bit weird for a professional setting, though I get it might be for religious reasons. Also, the info the interviewer gave me about the group life plan and the job didn't match what I saw on Prudential's website. It's important for everyone involved to be on the same page about the role and what the company wants to achieve. What bothered me most was the hint that the hiring manager might be looking to hire their daughter or a family member, which makes me concerned about nepotism. While family is important, it's key to be upfront about how hiring works to keep things fair. Even though I probably didn't get the job, I hope Prudential looks into these things so future candidates have a better experience and the hiring stays fair and open. I've actually filed a complaint with the Connecticut Commission on Human Rights and Opportunities about this. Being transparent and fair is not just good for applicants, but also for the company's reputation and success. Thanks for listening.
- Can you share an example using the STAR method?
- The hiring managers seemed to discourage candidates, and one even mentioned being laid off and then rehired.

I sent in my resume. I got a link for a recorded video interview asking basic customer service questions. Then I did a questionnaire and assessment. After that, I had a WebEx interview with the hiring manager and team manager where they asked tougher questions about my work experience. I got my job offer two weeks later.
- What makes you want this job and why are you a good candidate?
- Describe your perfect work setting and the type of work you dislike most.
- How would you handle a customer service call, especially with an upset customer? Give an example of when you satisfied a difficult customer.

Applied online, did a personality assessment. About 6 weeks later, got an email for a phone interview. The recruiter talked about the job, training, and pay. If still interested, got an email link for an assessment. The assessment was challenging but fun if you're a quick thinker. After the assessment, I waited a week, then emailed a follow-up and heard back the next day to set up an in-person interview. At the interview, I met two associate managers. They asked why I applied to Prudential, typical personality questions (strengths, weaknesses), and about 6 situational questions. I was glad I prepared stories. The conversation was relaxed; they took notes for record-keeping. After about 45 minutes, I asked them questions about the company. They answered everything and seemed to appreciate my preparation. Then, I spoke with a manager who asked a couple more questions and answered more of my questions, giving me a good idea of the daily operations. They said I'd hear back in a week to ten days, or I could follow up. My recruiter called the next day with an offer. The background check is thorough, requiring 13 years of addresses and 10 years of employment, plus details on any negative financial situations (charge-offs, foreclosures, collections, etc.) and how they were resolved. The background check can take up to 3 weeks. They hire in classes, so the start date might be up to 6 weeks out. Don't quit your current job until the background check is clear and you have a confirmed date.
