Enterprise Account Executive
A recruiter reached out to me to talk for 15 minutes for an "enterprise" role. We talked, and this is barely (if at all) even mid market. 100 - 499 employees is SMB. You can't redefine a term that's been around for decades. ENT reps don't have 1/3 of a city. And please don't reach out to me and then ask "why I want to work at Paycor". I have no idea.
- Can you share your background and explain why you are interested in working with us?
- Why are you interested in this role at our company?
Business Analyst
The interview process involved a recruiter call where they asked about my best day, my lunch, spicy food preference, why I chose the company, and if I knew about the company.
- Tell me about your best day ever.
- What are you having for lunch today?
- Do you like spicy food?
Senior Manager
I applied online and a recruiter reached out super quickly for a phone screen. That recruiter was actually the best I've ever worked with – really polite, prompt, and gave me tons of info. After that, I had a chat with the hiring manager, which was pretty laid-back and short, mostly just discussing my experience. Sadly, I didn't get the job. The reason given was that they promoted someone internally, which makes me wonder how serious they were about my application. I get that it's common now for companies to interview outside candidates even when they plan to promote from within, but if that's what happened here, I hope they reconsider because it's a real bummer to feel like your time was wasted.
- Could you tell me about your experience managing teams and projects throughout your career?
Customer Success Manager
Got contacted by the recruiter for a phone screen. They mentioned the salary range on LinkedIn (54K-88K) wasn't accurate, and it was actually 75K-80K, with them rarely offering at 80K. Also, the job description had wrong info about travel (said 25%, but it's none). These inaccuracies were the first red flags. After the phone screen, I was supposed to have a Zoom with the hiring manager. But on Friday evening, they called saying they wanted to hire someone ASAP and wanted to skip to the case study. So, I prepped for the case study and then interviewed with a 3-person panel: the hiring manager, a director, and a potential teammate. They were nice. I sent a thank you email with my presentation to the recruiter for the panel, but never heard back if it was sent or received. Same with the case study, no confirmation it was received. After two business days with no response, I emailed the recruiter about my candidacy status and was totally ghosted. The recruiter's poor communication, the incorrect job details, and the rush to hire were big red flags. I think I dodged a bullet.
