I had an initial screen call with their technical recruiter, Sapna. She explained the role Paycor is hiring for and the expectations in detail. She also asked about my tech stack and what I'd need for the job. She also touched upon benefits. Then, I had a technical panel interview and a combined behavioral and technical interview with the VP of Technology. The panel was really smart and asked some great questions on REST APIs, C#, and React JS, Azure.

Technical Presentation

The interview process was quite tedious and frankly, I wish the team would appreciate a candidate's time more. As an ATS company, I expected better awareness and clarity regarding their interview process. They kept scheduling new interviews that weren't communicated upfront. It started with two initial phone screens, followed by a 4-hour onsite interview which included a 1-hour presentation and four separate interviews focusing on different tech stacks. After the interviews, I was asked to complete an aptitude test to be considered for the final decision. Then, three weeks later, I was given a web application task based on provided requirements.

I applied on the career site and then got a call from an employee. I did alright with the questions they asked, but then they threw in one SQL question at the end. They ended up rejecting me, saying I needed more SQL experience, even though I'd already told the recruiter I didn't have much. It was pretty disappointing they still decided to bring me in for an onsite just to reject me on that basis.
