The recruiter was demeaning. I went in to discuss a job opportunity, and the recruiter took the opportunity to talk down to me, saying "you have experience but you don't have our experience." He then went on to say that I should only look at entry level positions even though I have had over 10 years experience.

I had a phone interview with a couple people, and then they flew me out to South Carolina for in-person discussions. Everyone seemed nice and smart, but after weeks of talking and traveling, they just ghosted me. It's been over a month, and I've tried reaching out multiple times with no reply. I get that they might have preferred someone else or maybe I messed up somehow, but it's just basic courtesy to send a quick rejection email. If they'd have taken 30 seconds to send a note, I'd have a positive review.

After applying online, I had a phone screening with recruiting. Then came the on-site interview, which included a plant tour. I got there and watched a safety video. I met the hiring manager at security. I was interviewed by two different groups. I toured the facility with other Business Unit Leaders and interview participants. I had lunch with potential peers.

The interviewer was very professional and kind. The meeting was on campus at Dalhousie. She guided me through questions and let me express myself. She helped me feel much less stressed. But be careful, kindness doesn’t mean she feels you are a good candidate, she makes everyone feel like it was a successful interview, that’s the job of an HR.
