Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Michelin North America.
Industrial Engineer
The interviewer was very professional and kind. The meeting was on campus at Dalhousie. She guided me through questions and let me express myself. She helped me feel much less stressed. But be careful, kindness doesn’t mean she feels you are a good candidate, she makes everyone feel like it was a successful interview, that’s the job of an HR.
- Can you describe a task you worked on?
- What tools did you employ for this task?
- Which methods did you utilize for this task?
Industrial Engineer
The interview process was really well set up and easy. Michelin took care of flights, hotel, and a rental car. The night before, a mid to senior level Michelin person took me to dinner. We chatted about the company, the job, and I got to ask questions in a relaxed way. The next day, I went to the headquarters for the interview. It had three parts. First, a practical test to see if I could learn to be an IE. Second, a face-to-face with HR with typical questions. Finally, a face-to-face with a Senior IE Manager where we talked about a project I did. After that, I left for the airport and got a call with a great job offer before my flight. Unfortunately, I couldn't take the job for other reasons. Honestly, the whole interview and hiring experience was better than I could have imagined.
- The practical test was harder than I thought, but they mainly wanted to see if I could learn rather than if I could get the right answer.
Industrial Engineer
they first called me and gave me a personality/IQ test, it went ok. then after waiting over six weeks, they had me come in for a face to face interview at their corporate HQ. it was a four stage interview, two face to face, and two skills tests. one was a group skill set, where they told me to ask the 'operator' what product needed to be constructed and to show working together.
- What can you bring to this company?
- What is the product that requires construction?
- Demonstrate teamwork capabilities.
