Automation Engineer
The entire process took about a month from the initial HR introduction call (which covered salary expectations) to the final offer. Once things got rolling after the first HR chat, the rest of the interview stages moved quite quickly and smoothly. The steps were: HR introduction interview (including salary expectations) -> Hiring manager interview + exam -> Interview with 2 directors above the hiring manager -> HR interview (with VP HR) -> CTO interview.
- How do you manage disagreements with other stakeholders?
Junior .NET Developer
The first interview was a phone call with HR where we discussed the job and the company. They asked about my salary expectations early on, but I said I hadn't thought about a specific amount yet. Next, I had a 2-hour take-home assessment with 3 coding problems and 1 SQL problem. After that, there was a technical interview with the team, which was supposed to be 3 hours but ended up being 2. This interview included coding challenges and questions about ASP.NET Core and web development in general. The fourth interview, which I didn't get to, was with the team from the US. They apparently keep asking about salary, so it's important to give a low number to move forward.
- Can you tell me why you are interested in working with us?
- What are your salary expectations?
Outsourcing Delivery Analyst
So I had a two stage interview process with IHS. The first interview was about an hour and was competency-based, asking about my past experience and how my skills fit the role. It felt more like a chat, and the interviewers were really friendly. I got through to the second interview, which was a Microsoft Teams meeting with three client directors based in Dallas. I thought the interview went really well, and I had all the right skills for the job. They said I'd hear back in about a week, but I'm still waiting. I followed up with HR but haven't heard anything back, and I feel like they've ghosted me. It's a shame because it's only polite to give feedback, especially when people take time out to interview. It would be helpful to know where I went wrong to improve next time. Honestly, I think two interview rounds are enough, maybe even just one.
- Tell me something not on your resume.
- What are your friends' and colleagues' descriptions of you?
- Which settlement products have you used?
Consulting Analyst
The process started with registration via the College Placement Cell, where I had to fill in my details and CV on Workday. The first round was a 'Pymmetrics Test', which was like a personality test, nothing too serious. Then came the second round, a 45-minute aptitude test, pretty basic 10th-grade stuff, but the time was tight. The third round was an orientation followed by a personal interview. This was HARD – you really need to know your resume inside out and be prepped on Finance and IHS Markit.
- Tell me about any recent developments you've observed in the finance sector.
- What led you to choose your course of study?
- What is your motivation for wanting to join IHS Markit?
