So I interviewed in person for a Golang Developer position on March 17th. The interview had three technical rounds and then a techno-managerial round, which took up a lot of my time and effort. After that, HR (Ritesh from People Development in Noida) called me, we talked about the CTC and they said they'd move forward with my application. But then, nothing for over a week, not even after I sent a follow-up email. I mean, after putting in so much time and going through all those rounds, you'd expect some clear communication and updates, right? The interview itself felt organized, but the lack of communication afterwards really messed up the candidate experience. Companies should really value our time and effort and give us some closure, win or lose.

The interview process has 5 phases. The first round is a technical discussion and coding assessment (online). The second round is also a technical discussion and coding assessment (online). Then there's a manager round, which is a mix of behavioral and technical questions with coding (online). After that, there's another manager round, this time in person at the office. The final round is with a client, which is purely technical and conducted online.

I had a really bad interview experience. The first day, I did a technical round, and the next day, I had another discussion. Since I was new, both the Manager and HR interviews were on the same day, and I passed all four rounds. Then, they asked me to go to the client's office in Bangalore for another client round. I booked my travel and hotel, but the interview got cancelled the night before at 7 PM. Because it was so late, I couldn't cancel my bookings and lost about ₹4,000. Two days later, they suddenly asked me to do an iMocha test for a 'different client.' After I took the test, the recruiter stopped answering calls and messages. After a lot of follow-ups, I was told I didn't pass. Since iMocha shows correct answers, it felt like they just wanted to reject me after making me go through so many rounds. It was a total waste of time, effort, and money. It felt very unprofessional and misleading. My advice to management and recruiters is to be upfront during hiring. Don't cancel interviews last minute, especially when candidates spend money on travel. Be organized and consistent to respect candidates' time. Communicate promptly and honestly instead of leaving candidates hanging. If you decide to reject someone, just say so directly instead of dragging the process out. A good hiring process shows the company in a good light and builds trust.

So for the interview, there were two technical rounds. The first was short, covering OOP, OS stuff like processes vs threads and deadlock, and DB basics like JOINs and GROUP BY. They also gave me a sliding window DSA problem to solve and asked about the time complexity. We talked about my projects and I had to do a small coding task about LRU logic. The second technical round was also short. It was a mini system design for a URL shortener, asking about scaling and API design. Then there was some behavioral stuff and questions about my tech stack like REST, Git, and CI/CD.
