Customer Service Representative
First theres a phone call, then an interview which might have multiple stages. They want you to use the STAR method, which honestly feels like making stuff up for them. It's the worst interview method ever. Besides that, they ask the typical questions that are so bad they make you want to scream.
- Can you share an instance where you took initiative and describe the outcome?
- Tell me about a time you were proactive and what the results were
Associate Producer
So I first spoke with the direct supervisor for about 30 minutes. After that, they told me I was moving on and that I'd get info on what's next. The next day, I got that info and easily set up more interviews that worked with my schedule. Then I did two more interviews, each with two other people who were relevant. Those took about an hour each. Right after those, I got an email about when to expect to hear back. Then my recruiter called way sooner than I thought with the final decision and an offer!
- What's your approach to collaborating with people who have different personalities?
- When it comes to motivating a team, do you lean more towards "stick" or "carrot" methods?
- Can you share a tough decision you've had to make in past jobs?
Test Lead
So, first I chatted with the recruiter, just a regular talk about the job and for me to talk about myself. It was all pretty normal and the recruiter was really nice. Then, I had interviews with the hiring manager, a technical panel, and a leadership/behavioral panel. They asked a bunch of questions, like 10-15 with follow-ups in each session, all related to the job, and I got to ask questions too. The whole thing took about two months, which seems pretty standard these days.
- Tell me about a significant challenge you encountered and how you resolved it.
- Can you describe a time when you experienced a major failure?
- Regarding technology and processes, can you elaborate on SDLC, your approach to testing a live service product, test automation, test design, Docker, Global Simship experience, and release reporting?
Platform Security Director
The interview process was reasonable and ABK was ultimately willing to offer a management position one level higher than the original vacancy to account for my unique qualifications and management seniority at my current employer. There were five interview rounds, 2x 1:1 and 3x panel. The three panels targeted different management and leadership history and capability. One was focused on how to manage company-wide obligations and communicating across diverse teams. One targeted how to manage a security-focused team and deliver on team obligations. The third was with team members and was a mix of deeper technical questions and allowing the interviewee and interviewers to get a feel for each other to make sure the relationship would be a good fit. None of the questions were Earth shattering or overwhelmingly challenging since I did have the background in senior leadership engagements and managing diverse, distributed teams. The team's specialized mission was very well aligned with my long term career so that was refreshing. All interview sessions were courteous and professional and, to be honest, fun. I believe part of this is due to the nature and history of ABK.
- Can you share an instance where you managed a challenging employee interaction due to teaming problems?
