Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Blizzard Entertainment.
Software Engineer Intern
I first spoke with a recruiter who then placed me on a team. After that, I had to complete a technical assessment with 20 questions and a 1-hour time limit. The recruiter mentioned it would likely only take half the time. Then, I had an interview with two team members. Unfortunately, a couple of days later, I found out they were moving forward with another candidate.

Started with a recruiter chat, then an hour-long discussion with the hiring managers. After that, there was a HackerRank test, followed by about 3 hours of fit and technical interviews with the team. The team seemed pretty cool, and people tend to stick around at Blizzard for a while, which I think is a good sign.
- Tell me about some quirks of programming languages.
- Can you detail your knowledge of bits and bytes?
Software Engineer
The interview process was super long with a lot of interviews, including a recruiter screening, a technical screening, a take-home assignment that took about six hours, some more recruiter meetings, a technical interview with live coding, a production interview about compatibility, another technical interview with a live engineering task, another production interview about compatibility, and more recruiter meetings. There were also extra interviews or meetings if needed. It felt like the recruiter meetings were the gatekeepers, deciding if you moved on or got stopped. The team was nice and professional, and I had enough time to ask them questions and get a feel for the company.
