The interview process started with general and average questions covering Data Science fundamentals and LLM basics. We touched on topics like the Bias-Variance tradeoff, feature engineering versus representation learning, and evaluation metrics like F1-Score vs. Accuracy. For LLMs, we discussed pre-training vs. fine-tuning and the issue of hallucinations. We also covered tokenization. Then, there was an in-depth project review, focusing on design decisions. Key questions here included whether an LLM was the right choice, data quality handling, architecture selection (BERT vs. GPT vs. T5), and how success was measured using various metrics. Finally, we dove deep into the Transformer architecture, explaining concepts like input embedding, positional encoding, the self-attention mechanism (including Q, K, V and the formula), multi-head attention, feed-forward networks, and residual connections with layer normalization.

The interview process at Zomato usually starts with you applying online and then a recruiter screening your profile. After that, there are rounds focused on your specific job skills, like case studies or tasks to assess you. Then you'll have an interview with the hiring manager, and finally, HR will discuss the terms with you. They really care about how you use data to make decisions, how you solve problems, talk to different people, adjust to changes, and get things done in a fast-paced world.

I went to the interview even though I was sick. It was a group discussion about a 4-day versus a 6-day work week. I argued for the 6-day week, talking about consistency and discipline. Others talked about the 4-day week and its productivity and employee well-being benefits. There were people with sales experience and MBAs. I didn't pass this round, but it taught me about the communication and thinking skills needed. I learned from how others presented their points. This made me want to get better. Now I work in real estate and feel more confident and skilled at managing clients. My first job was a base, but this experience made me a better professional. Speak clearly, confidently, and concisely. Use logic or examples. Listen and respond well. Know current topics. It was a good experience for growth.
