Human Resources Analyst
The process began with an interview via their AI assistant, Ezra, which was a really poor and impersonal candidate experience. The recruiter sent a blog post about the AI interview, but it was really basic and didn't help much with preparation. I got a link that was supposed to be active for 3–5 days, but it expired way before that, and I had to ask for it to be reactivated. It said it was a voice interview, but it turned out to be video, which was unexpected. The interview itself was automated and moved really fast, with hardly any chance to ask questions or get clarification. In the end, they decided not to move forward and sent a standard rejection email with feedback that really criticized my resume and experience, even though I never actually talked to a human. It felt unfair and dismissive, especially since I didn't have any real interaction during the process.

Senior Security Engineer
The interview process included a screen from the recruiter, a skills assessment with a discussion around it, a cross-functional interview, and a final "bar-raiser" with the CTO. Through the formal process I found Zapier to be responsive, easy to communicate with, and respectful. When I received the notification that they would not proceed with my application, they included information about other partners in their ecosystem who might be a fit. I greatly appreciate that human touch even in delivering less than positive news. That sort of positive spin is much better than the cold, generic rejection letters that many companies send.
- Can you share an instance where you facilitated communication between sales and the product team?
Data Scientist
So I had a recruiter call, then a hiring manager interview, and then I got a take-home assignment. But while I was working on it, they told me they'd already hired someone and were closing the interviews. They didn't give me a deadline for the assignment, so I spent a lot of time on it, which felt disrespectful. Also, the take-home seemed really involved for something that should only take a few hours. I don't really like that they make you do these, 'cause you can't tell how long people spend on them, making comparisons unfair. Aside from that, the recruiter and hiring manager were nice, but Zapier needs to be more upfront about interview timelines so they don't waste people's time.
- Can you share an instance where a coworker's error impacted you, and describe how you addressed it?
Data Engineer
The Zapier interview process was super smooth and positive. The recruiter was really nice, kept me in the loop, and gave me all the info I needed. Everyone I met was friendly, professional, and stuck to what they said, so I always knew what to expect. The process had a few parts: First, a Recruiter Interview to chat about my background, skills, and goals, plus learn about pay and benefits. Then, a Hiring Manager Interview where we really dug into my experience and I got to ask about the team and the job. After that, a Skills Assessment with a take-home task, followed by a live chat with the team and others to check my practical skills. Finally, a talk with department leaders about soft skills and understanding the team's direction and how it's set up. They called it 'Bar Raiser style'. After each interview, I got feedback and heard about the next steps within a day or two, which made it all super easy.
