Behavioral Presentation

It was a really good interview process. The recruiter was super clear and kept me updated, which was great. First, there was a recruiter screen where they asked team/role specific questions, like how I'd talk to a designer. It was more detailed than usual, so be ready. Then, I met with the hiring manager for an hour to dive deep into my experience, skills, and strengths. After that, I had to do a presentation. I was given a project I'd led that was relevant to the job and had to present it to a panel of product folks. I prepped about 30 minutes of content and led them through a deliverable. They asked questions during the presentation, which lasted about 75 minutes, and I had 15 minutes at the end for my questions. I spent about 5-6 hours getting this presentation ready. Finally, there was what I think was a values interview, a 1-hour chat with a Product leader about handling conflict, prioritizing, and convincing others. It touched on their company values.

When applying to Zapier, they ask you to send in written answers to some questions with your application. They then choose a few people to interview from those who applied. I did the written part twice, spending about 3-4 hours on each application where I researched my answers, wrote them, and edited them before sending. Both times, I didn't get picked. I'm not going to waste my time sending answers for a third job!

Behavioral Technical Presentation

Zapier’s interview process for the Senior Product Manager, SEO role was thorough, with five distinct stages including a panel and a final interview with the CTO. The process was generally well-organized, and the VP of Product provided clear context about the role’s focus area. However, the final CTO interview felt misaligned—focused on deep technical SEO tactics that required internal knowledge I wasn’t privy to as a candidate. Overall, it was a thoughtful process, but the last stage could have been more grounded in the realities of an external candidate’s perspective.
