Support Manager
I applied online and went through a five-stage interview process. Even though I didn't get the job, ending up in the final three, I found it to be a positive experience overall. The recruitment team was really empathetic and transparent, which was a standout part of the process. The recruiter kept me in the loop about timelines and sent detailed emails before each interview explaining what to expect and how to prepare. The stages included: 1. A screening interview with the Talent Acquisition Manager about salary expectations and some behavioral questions. 2. A competency-based interview with the hiring manager (or a Senior Support Manager who stepped in), focusing on goal-setting, managing remote teams, and staying updated on product developments. 3. Meeting two support team members for a cultural-fit interview, discussing communication, motivation, and personal interests. 4. An interview with two Support Managers about hiring, motivating, and managing staff, including handling layoffs, which involved challenging multi-part questions that were confusingly presented all at once. 5. A final, more casual interview with the hiring manager who had reviewed my previous interviews. Afterwards, I received feedback that I was a strong candidate but another person had slightly more experience in managing larger teams and goal setting.
- Tell me about a time you successfully led a remote team and what strategies you used for collaboration and communication.
- How do you deal with underperformance on your team?
- How do you make sure your team always provides top-notch support and a great customer experience?
Consumer Insights Manager
A recruiter reached out to me via email, and we scheduled a Zoom chat. The recruiter was super friendly, organized, and upfront about everything. I even got some feedback after our talk, which was a nice touch since not many do. I chose not to move forward right now, but Zapier is definitely a place I'd consider for future roles.
- What prompted you to agree to discuss this position, and what aspects of it caught your attention?
Manager
I filled out a long questionnaire. They claim a person will review it, and then I'll hear back. I couldn't submit a resume or add my job credentials, only answer the questions. I haven't had an initial screening yet, even though I meet all the qualifications. The questions seem straightforward, but I think there's a lot of subjectivity in how they evaluate responses. It seems like they're missing out on good candidates by not talking to qualified people in real-time.
- In your opinion, what is the core purpose of a manager?
