Applied in late November, but the process didn't kick off until January, which was a slow start. The hiring manager was really nice, and chats were engaging. The team seemed great across the three interview stages. However, after the final round in early February, which included a take-home task, communication just stopped. My first follow-up email was completely ignored. I sent another request for feedback, CC'ing the hiring manager, which finally got a response – they said the hiring manager was making a decision that day. It's really disappointing to spend months and hours on a task and then get silence until you escalate. Companies should be more respectful of candidates' time and provide timely updates. Streamline the hiring process; leaving candidates waiting from November to February and ignoring follow-ups after a final round is unprofessional, even if the interviewers are pleasant.

I didn't even get an interview, but the recruiter screening was really strange for me. The recruiter was speaking super fast and recited a bunch of information, then asked me about my experience and some technical stuff. I thought it was odd because I figured the hiring manager would have reviewed my resume first since all that information is already there. Then, they asked a question like `which aforementioned technologies did you use` which was also on my resume. I think I must have missed it because English isn't my first language and it was already hard to keep up, so I politely asked what they were referring to. The recruiter responded, but sounded really impatient. I mentioned I had experience with some of those technologies and asked if there was anything else. They refused to elaborate, saying `I'm not going to repeat myself 3 times`. I found that to be rude. Ultimately, I wasn't even given a chance to ask questions after they finished their spiel about the role and asking their questions.

I had a 15min call with the recruiter first. Then, there was a 1.5hr technical coding interview, followed by a 90min design interview. The final round was a 60 min HR interview. I managed to do about 95% of what was asked in the coding part without looking anything up. I did get some hints from the interviewer, but I made sure I understood the JSON response and figured out the implementation myself. I ran out of time to assign a few variables, but I did get pagination done, which I felt was a big part of it.

I got an email from the recruiter and had an initial call where we chatted about my background and what I'm looking for. She also outlined the upcoming interviews, which included two technical screenings, a system design interview, and a hiring manager chat. I did the two technical screenings back-to-back, each lasting 1.5 hours. The first involved some nested array manipulation based on specific rules, and the second was more about code structure, edge cases, and making it maintainable and scalable rather than complex data structures. Unfortunately, I received a rejection email about a week later. Everyone I interacted with was really nice, and the coding problems were kind of fun, so I enjoyed the experience overall despite the outcome.
