First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Warner Music Group.
Marketing Intern
The interviewer was about 10 minutes late. The interview itself was pretty relaxed. My laptop actually froze up towards the end of it all. I sent the interviewer an email explaining what happened. Then, a week later, I followed up again. After that, I was ghosted and I saw that the position went to an intern who was already in a similar department (marketing) but based out of the New York offices.
- Which currently trending artists do you predict are going to become more popular?
Digital Marketing Intern
It was a 5 step process. First, I sent my application through the website. Then, if I was successful, I had to do a presentation task. After that, there was a short phone interview. If I passed that, I was invited for an in-person group interview at their London offices where we did tasks in groups. On the same day, they narrowed us down to 3/4 candidates and the remaining few had a 1-2-1 interview with a member of the Warner management team. I was notified of the successful application a few days later via phone call.
- What are the key music marketing trends right now?
- Which emerging artist do you find most exciting and explain why?
- What potential marketing challenges do you foresee for this specific artist?
Marketing Intern
The interview happened online on May 2nd through some recorded program. I didn't hear back until mid-July, and I had to be the one to reach out to ask about my application. They told me that decisions were made that very day (what a coincidence?) and to check my spam folder, which I had already done. I felt like my application didn't matter and my dream internship was just thrown aside.
- What music genre do you like the most
