First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at UT Southwestern Medical Center.
Cloud Security Architect
I applied online and a recruiter reached out after about a month. We did a phone screen, which was pretty straightforward. Then there was a second interview with the hiring manager that lasted about 30 minutes. After that, I was scheduled for a panel interview with 2 directors and 1 senior manager for cyber security. They asked easy questions, like 'tell me about yourself,' and some questions about my cloud security background and how I'd apply it to their environment. I also recommended some solutions to help put in some security guardrails in their cloud environment. Long story short, I didn't hear back from them. I later learned the position was put on hold. I sent an email to the recruiter, and she said she was going to reach out to the hiring manager. I never heard back from her or the manager. The position still shows as on hold.
- Could you start by telling me about yourself?
Phlebotomist/EKG Technician
The interview was a 30-minute virtual meeting. Mostly behavioral questions were asked, like asking for an example of a work challenge, a time you went above and beyond, and your thoughts on teamwork. They also asked to name some EKG rhythms.
- Can you share an example of a challenge encountered in your work?
- Tell me about a time you went above and beyond your responsibilities.
- What are your thoughts on teamwork?
Clinical Research Assistant
I went through 3 rounds of interviews then they ghosted me after the final round. The overall interview process was seamless. I met with coordinators, a manager, and a registration specialist for the first 2 interviews. The final round was with the department manager. I’m a bit disappointed I got ghosted after investing so much time into this process considering I thought I was a very strong candidate.

Patient Access Representative
The interview itself was fine, but the pre-boarding experience was a nightmare. It dragged out for about 3 weeks total, during which time you have to put your life on hold, turn down other offers, and quit your job. A contingency that is based on your background, employment verification, urine test, etc., shouldn't take 3 weeks. Most importantly, a candidate shouldn't have to wait that long for clearance. All the candidate wants is confirmation that everything is clear, but that's clearly not a priority for UTSW. You give us very little flexibility in case something falls through, which is unfair to the candidate.
- What's your reason for leaving your current job?
