Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at UT Southwestern Medical Center.
Accountant
I chatted with the accounting supervisor and the financial analyst from the department. The interview went for about an hour. They told me that if I get the job, I'll have to interview with the CFO and then do the onboarding with HR. This usually takes about two to three weeks to finalize if I'm hired.
- What makes you want to join our company?
Accountant
Manager called and did a phone interview, gave notice to come in for an interview in person. Got called in for second in-person interview but this was with the higher up manager. If they both approve, you will then get notified by human resources. Overall, very comprehensive interview, but typical interview questions you can find online. Also, since the actual manager interviews you via phone and in person, you will get to meet who you will be working for.
- Can you describe a challenging situation from your past work experience and explain how you managed it?
Accountant
The first interview was conversational, and the second was a very basic Excel test. I expected more complex questions. The interviews didn't give me much insight into the actual job tasks. Nothing discussed, except reconciliations, ended up being part of my duties. It felt like I was set up for failure.
- What did you pledge in college?
