First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at U.S. Bank.
Fund Accountant
I got referred by an employee and had two video interviews. It was pretty simple and organized. First, I talked to the recruiter about my background and why I wanted the job. Then, I had a final panel interview with three hiring managers where they asked mostly behavioral questions about teamwork, solving problems, and my past experiences. I wish I'd gone into more detail with my examples, even though I used the STAR method. It was a good, professional interview overall.

Internal Audit Project Manager
So, the hiring manager didn't even show up for my interview; it was just their peers. The questions they asked weren't related to the job description at all, and there were no behavioral questions, and they didn't seem to care about what I do. The whole interview was about very specific job functions that weren't even mentioned in the job description, which totally caught me off guard. When I asked about the hiring manager, they told me I'd be reporting to all of them, which really set off some red flags for me.
- The interview involved very specific, detailed questions about the role, even though it wasn't a senior or highly paid position, and the hiring manager was absent.
Security Engineer
The interview process was pretty straightforward. It started with a phone screen with the internal recruiter, followed by a first round zoom interview with a lead developer, and then a second round in-person interview with the team. I thought I did well and the team seemed warm and receptive, but then I was completely ghosted. I reached out to the recruiter multiple times for next steps or a decision and never got a response. I followed up again for feedback and got nothing. The job market is really bleak and difficult right now, especially for entry-level roles, and this kind of unprofessionalism is unacceptable, especially from a big company like US Bank. It's already hard enough out here, don't make it worse.

Client Relationship Consultant
I had just been laid off from U.S. Bank after working there for eight years and applied for an in-store Banker position (CRC is the new fancy name). The first question the recruiter asked me was: "So tell me, are you familiar with U.S. Bank's culture?"... NO JOKE. I was speechless, then I gently explained how after having worked in various roles for the past 8 years I know blah blah blah... She responded: "Oh so you've worked for us"... Absolutely Shocked I would like to point out how as a former employee and a severance impacted employee, my applications DO LOOK different to the recruiters, so I'm not sure how she missed that.
- So tell me, are you familiar with U.S. Bank's culture?
